Illustration Library Workstation, began in 1983, was an
early attempt to visualize what a powerful personal multimedia workstation
could be. The simulation was an example for the National Geographic
Society. After many months of negotiation between NGS and Atari,
NGS finally agreed to collaborate on a more ambitious effort. Ironically,
Atari Research had just been abruptly closed.
